My February reading consisted of Greenlights by Matthew McConaughey. I first saw the book in Target and added it to my Book Wishlist on Amazon. So, it's safe to say that I was looking forward to reading this after I received it as a Christmas gift!
The book is full of his journal entries, notes, quotes, drawings, and thoughts that he wrote down throughout the years. His philosophy of "greenlights" (as I understood it), are certain moments that come or happen in your life where you have to make a choice to move forward.
I laughed quite a lot as I read this. I also found myself thinking that my husband would enjoy this book.
My Summary of Greenlights
He always wanted to be a father.
Acting was not something he was looking for, but it came knocking and he answered.
I finally understood how he went from these Rom-Coms to Drama roles, and good for him!
His relationship with his mother and father. We don't choose our parents but the "philosophy" he lives by has helped him accept certain actions.
Living in his mobile and travelling around while also working is pretty cool.
He is very spiritual.
The way he writes about his wife and the birth of their kids just warms my heart. Even more how they came upon the decision or naming them.
His wet dream that took him to South America and Africa.
Acceptance and gratefulness.
Greenlights. Move forward.
If you are thinking about checking the book out, I recommend you do. I did hear that the Audiobook is good as it's narrated by him. So maybe check that out if reading really isn't your thing.
