I heard that 31 is the new 21?? (asking for a friend...LOL) It's now been a week since the official birthday and as most know, I sort of celebrate the entire month.

But this year I've been busy with work, school, and personal goals that I realized I had no plan for what I wanted to do to celebrate, other than to go to Disneyland like I usually do!
DISNEYLAND
I've been going to Disneyland on my birthday for the past couple of years and this year was not going to be any different. This year my boyfriend accompanied me, and we did the Park Hopper experience. We started the day at DCA (Disney California Adventure) because they were going to close the parks at 6pm due to the Oogie Boogie Bash. Which meant we would be ending our day at Disneyland.
Year 31 sneaked up on me! I forgot to unpack my birthday ears that I've had since I turned 21 and have taken on a few Disney B-day trips. It was unfortunate because I was looking forward to taking a photo with them (Oh well!). But the B-day photos still came out good and no matter what they are going into the memory book!
I decided to do something a little different to celebrate my birthday at the parks this year! I created a post with my Venmo on Instagram to help integrate my friends in celebrating my last day & birthday at Disneyland. I wanted them to be a part of the magic and memories, they were my pixie dust! It was a successful day! THANK YOU!
We rode rides and took in the Halloween decorations and environment that goes on in the parks during September! We laughed, ate, and created memories to last for years!
BIRTHDAY DINNER at CATCH LOS ANGELES
This year my boyfriend took me to Catch Los Angeles for my birthday dinner. How he came about the restaurant I'm not sure, but I believe it was via Instagram. I know I did. I had it saved in on my bucket list of places I wanted to check out, so this worked out perfectly!
He let me know on Monday, September 12 that he tried booking a reservation, but everything was booked up for Saturday, September 17. They do their reservations through the OpenTable app. Since they didn't have any spots available, I requested for a "Notify/Alert Me" if a slot did open up. By Tuesday evening (September 13) I received an alert that a slot opened up for 7pm and I booked it!
Catch Restaurants has two places in Los Angeles:
Catch LA (West Hollywood) : 8715 Melrose Ave West Hollywood, CA 90069
This is the one we made our reservation for.
Catch Steak LA : 650 N La Cienega Los Angeles, CA 90069
Parking: they have valet or you can park in the West Hollywood Library Parking Structure behind the restaurant. We parked in the structure.
When we arrived, security let us in and told us to ride the elevator to the roof. When you step out of the elevator and turn right you are met with the first sight of the beautiful flower/greenery arrangements they have. After checking in with the hostess she let us know that we could go over to the bar to wait, and they would come to get us when our table was ready.
We were seated in the outside patio where they have heaters if it gets too cold. They had them on, but I asked our server to turn it off because it was a warm day in LA. Our server for the night was Dillon and he was wonderful during our dinner experience. He was helpful in answering our questions and giving us his suggestions.
We ordered:
Baby Gem Caesar Salad: Sugar Snap Peas, Asparagus, Avocado, Sunflower Seeds, Lemon Parmesan Vinaigrette
Wagyu Surt & Turf Roll : Maine lobster, Crispy Potato, Truffle Aioli, Sweet Ponzu, Chimichurri, Tempura Flakes
10oz Filet Mignon : Medium Rare (our preference), Kabayaki Butter, Tempura, Nori Flakes, Wasabi-Soy
"Hit Me" Chocolate Cake : Liquid "Klondike", Roasted White Chocolate Ice Cream, Brownie Devil's Food
All of it was delicious! The flavors were a happy surprise based on the fact that we had no idea what to expect. We love seafood! But as anyone who loves or eats seafood you know that if cooked or prepared incorrectly things can go very wrong. But I can say with certainty that that was not the case here!
We will definitely be returning, and we decided that we also have to check out Catch Steak LA!
MY WISH FOR 31
My wish and prayer for this new year is:
That I continue to grow my wisdom in all aspects of my life.
That I continue to learn to be honest (& respectful) with myself, others, my goals, and dreams.
That I continue to be blessed with good health and the knowledge to become a healthier in my eating habits.
I would love to reach to be 100 yrs old, be at Disneyland with my birthday ears, a churro on one hand and on the other a Mickeys Ice Cream Premium Bar to celebrate that milestone...after all,
